to respond to the changing status of this worldwide pandemic and all new information, and
to be in close communication with local, state, and federal health, science, and medical guidelines and recommendations.
Our focus on safety will include
hand hygiene,
continued cleaning/disinfecting all areas and surfaces,
infection-prevention education, and
providing for the health, safety, and well-being of all our school family (face coverings, physical distancing, etc…).
Each student and staff member will have a “symptom check” and temperature check prior to entering the building each day. Anyone who is not feeling well or who has any symptoms will need to stay home. (See our Back-to-school Options on our home page: FACE, FLEX, and FUSE.)
Masks and/or face shields will be required and will be provided by the school. PPE has been secured for all staff and students. We will limit entrance into the building: only students and staff in the hallways and classrooms. We will limit enrollment for each homeroom class: only 10-12 students per room. Each class will be designated to enter/exit one specific doorway, limiting each route to the same small group of individuals. Each class will be designated to use only one specified restroom (inside the classrooms - preschool, kinder, first grade; in designated wing – elementary, intermediate, secondary). Each class will have outdoor physical activity time every day (weather permitting), following safety protocol. Each class will be designated to use outdoor playground equipment one day per week. The equipment will be disinfected before use by the next group the following day. Students will not change classrooms; they will eat lunch in their homerooms. Windows will be opened from time to time to allow ventilation and air circulation, as per guidelines from the American Academy of Pediatrics. Water fountains will not be used by students; only the teacher may use the fountain to fill each student’s drink container brought from home. Fountains can be sources of disease-spread, and we will curtail that potential until further notice. Custodians will continually sanitize each fountain, faucet, etc... We have purchased touchless, hand-sanitizing stations to place at each entryway, hall, and other prime areas, to add to the ones we have always provided in each classroom, lab, etc… Students and staff will continue to practice 20-second hand-washing multiple times daily. We will limit the number of assignments/books to go home on a daily basis.
